Bobcat Dodges Gator

To a Florida resident, the sight of a bobcat is something to get excited about. Bobcats aren’t spotted that often, especially not in a Tampa Palms backyard, so when one is spotted, it’s a “Kodak moment” waiting to happen.


That’s what Bryan Peabody—owner of Peabody’s Billiards on Amberly Dr.—thought on May 29, when he snapped a few shots of the bobcat hanging out next to the pond behind his home in the Enclave on Wareham Dr. What he didn’t expect to be shooting photos of was a large Florida alligator that also had its eyes on the rare cat.


In this series of photographs, the bobcat narrowly escapes as the gator attempts to make an afternoon snack out of the wild feline. Just another afternoon in Florida…
