This morning it was just Pasco County, but as of 1:30 p.m. on June 25, New Tampa and Wesley Chapel join the entire state of Florida in a State of Emergency due to the looming tropical storm in the Gulf.

Sub-tropical storm Beryl was just a taste compared to what is happening outside right now. Tropical Storm Debby has brought torrential rain, flooding, power outages and tornado warnings to the New Tampa and Wesley Chapel areas for the better part of the past week.

This year, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting that there will be 9-15 named storms, of which between 4-8 are expected to become hurricanes and, of those, 1-3 could become major (above a Category 3) hurricanes before the season ends on November 30.

After years of legal battles, it looks as if the Cypress Creek Town Center Development of Regional Impact, the undeveloped property at the interchange of I-75 and S.R.s 54 & 56 in Wesley Chapel, will finally be home to an outlet mall to be built by the Simon Property Group.

Gusts of wind blow through the breezeway of the recently opened northbound I-75 rest area between S.R 56 and S.R. 54, as representatives of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) show off the final plans for the I-75 and I-275 widening projects, which have been under way for a more than a year now.
