Bay Area Urgent Care will likely change your perception of how a medical center that is located outside of a hospital should look and feel.

Co-Owners Glenrick Samuels, Jermaine Perkins and Michael Davis had a vision…to provide the community with a much-needed family-oriented indoor facility where children and adults could enjoy both indoor batting cages and virtual racing simulators.
On May 12, that vision became a reality when the trio opened the doors to a new 4,600-plus-sq.-ft. facility which houses four batting cages for both baseball and softball and five state-of-the-art racing simulators. The venue also has picnic tables and two 100-ft. TV screens.

Editor’s note - I assigned this story to freelance food critic and business writer Camille Gillies because she assured me she really enjoyed Indian cuisine, which has never been high on my list of favorites. However, please note that there are quite a few items on Saffron’s menu (see the story) that I have really enjoyed, but I believe Camille did a better job of putting together this piece for us than I could have done! - GN
You know that Indian food is gaining popularity in the U.S. when The Food Network proclaimed an Indian cook last year’s winner of “The Next Food Network Star” and, a few months later, The Cooking Channel launched the Indian-themed “Spice Goddess” cooking show. The evidence mounts as we observe in our own little corner of Tampa the proliferation of Indian restaurants in Temple Terrace, the university area and here in New Tampa.

I have to admit that I was never a big fan of Quizno’s Subs, but I already am a HUGE fan of the new, family owned Oakley’s Grille that has replaced Quizno’s New Tampa location on Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd., next to Dairy Queen (DQ) and in front of Home Depot.
Owner Keith Oakley has nearly four decades of experience in the restaurant business. He has taken what he learned while he was opening some of the original Chili’s, Outback and Longhorn Steakhouse locations in Florida (among others) and created a concept that promises gourmet burgers, sandwiches and salads in a clean, contemporary, family-friendly environment.

Attorneys Heath Denoncourt and Amy Warenyk of the firm Denoncourt & Warenyk, P.A. Attorneys at Law, defy the typical “meet you in the courtroom” stereotype. They like to be accessible to their clients beyond the normal call of duty, and believe this sets them apart from the myriad of law firms in the New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area.
Denoncourt & Warenyk specializes in family law and bankruptcy. The firm also handles estate planning, foreclosure defense and insurance claims. Most of these areas deal with extremely difficult issues.

“Even in a tough economy, people like to look their best. It can improve their outlook and their health,” says Don Kruse, president and CEO of the Beauty and Health Institute (BHI) in Tampa’s Citrus Park area.
Kruse and his wife, Rita, opened BHI in the spring of 2006, after Rita got the idea a year earlier. BHI offers training toward careers in beauty, health, electrolysis and related skills. But it’s also open to the public as the first such facility in Tampa where people can take advantage of many medical spa-type treatments for a fraction of the cost at other clinics.
Clients can come to BHI and rest assured that the students who perform many of the desired techniques are fully trained and supervised. Rita explains that, before a BHI student is allowed to actually perform any procedures, he or she must log a total of 500 hours in theory and practical training, with hands-on experience accounting for 220 hours. Those hours include rotation service there at the school or at a medical spa facility, similar to a medical student’s internship.
