When you think of words like “cafeteria” or “school lunch,” images of Sloppy Joes, tiny milk boxes and cardboard- consistency pizza squares may come to mind. However, it looks as if Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is looking to spice up its menus with tasty meals such as chicken burrito bowls and Asian flatbread pizza.
Around 200 students from various schools around the county, including some from Chiles and Clark Elementaries, assembled at Freedom High on June 29 for the second-annual “Fresh Flavors — Foods for Body & Mind Expo” to judge dishes that could be featured at local schools next year.
