Tampa Bay Inferno Hoopsters Stay Hot!

Published on 16 July 2011 by in Sports

They practice up to four days a week, preparing for basketball tournaments all over the state, and also in cities like Atlanta for exposure to college scouts. They train in the summer with Jade Givens, starting point guard for the University of North Florida. Their behavior is professional and serious, with a competitive drive that strives to win. And they’re a group of local 6th grade girls.

New Tampa resident Brandon Sinjin Sato and Hall of Famer Wade Boggs (3rd and 4th from left in front row) were among those at the podium when Sato won the 2011 Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award for his athletic and academic achievements.

Congratulations go out to my former Hunter’s Green neighbor Brandon Sinjin Sato for being named the 2011 recipient of the Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award. Boggs, the Major League Baseball first-ballot Hall of Famer and New Tampa resident who ended his 18-year career with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, was on-hand as Sato received the award, given annually since 2006 to a high school baseball player or team in recognition of their outstanding athletic and scholastic achievements.
