Free Community Drum Circle

Published on 23 July 2012 in Events

Location(s): St. James United Methodist Church

You're invited to bring your whole family and friends to join us for a fun night of drumming with World Renowned Drum Circle Facilitator Jana Broder of Drum Magic, LLC.

Hosted by Karen Claugherty Center Director of Music Together Ditties for Kiddies of New Tampa.

Drum circles are inter-generational family fun. Children, parents and grandparents alike feel the excitement, bonding, and satisfaction of making music in-the-moment together. Drumming is an invigorating physical, psychological, emotional, and deeply rooted human experience that reconnects us to ourselves and each other.

Music-making creates instant community. A sense of community comes from having things in common. And the arts have always served to express and expand the feelings of community these connections generate. Music Together is as much about creating community as it is about making music. Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age 7—and the grownups who love them.

Young children learn by watching and doing what their community of caregivers do. Once they have the skills, knowledge, and disposition to make music, they then need the opportunity to put their learning into practice.
