A law enforcement officer sustained minor injuries in a multiple vehicle collision that shut down Cross Creek Blvd. for several hours Wednesday night.

According to the Tampa Police Department (TPD), at approximately 7:34 p.m. August 8, TPD officer M. Braband failed to observe traffic stopped in front of his vehicle that was traveling westbound on Cross Creek Blvd., just east of Cory Lake Dr.

The TPD report says that the Braband’s cruiser rear-ended a 2005 Nissan Maxima, driven by New Tampa resident Ryan Allen Leiker, before being displaced in a southwestern direction and striking a 2004 Ford Mustang, driven by a minor traveling eastbound on Cross Creek Blvd.

Tampa Fire/Rescue responded to the accident. Braband sustained minor abrasions and neck pain, and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital North for treatment. The driver of the Mustang was treated for leg pain at the scene, the report says.

The accident closed down both directions of Cross Creek Blvd. for nearly three hours and traffic was diverted through the Cory Lake Isles Professional Center parking lot.
