Dump Truck Flips Over On Amberly Dr. At Bruce B. Downs Blvd.

Things are a bit quieter today at the intersection of Amberly Dr. and Bruce B. Downs Blvd. (BBD) than they were the morning of August 12. At that intersection, a 16,000-pound dump truck filled with 22 tons of dirt careened off BBD, flipping over on its side while skidding onto Amberly Dr. while the driver fought to avoid colliding with a car that had stopped quickly in front of him when a traffic signal turned yellow at BBD.

For the second time in two years, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to a new baby Indian rhinoceros. The endangered Indian rhinoceros (also known as the greater one-horned rhinoceros) was born July 13 at Lowry Park Zoo’s “Rhino Barn” within the zoo’s Asian Gardens exhibit.

The charges of attempted murder and child abuse are likely to change for Chunping Lin, the man who, according to Hillsborough County Sherrif's Office (HCSO), beat his wife so severely that she eventually died of her injuries on July 15 from the attack that took place on May 20.

Suspects are still on the loose for a recent rash of crimes in our area that only can be described as “smash and grab” burglaries. The break-ins left at least 12 businesses in New Tampa and the Wesley Chapel area with broken front doors and damaged interiors.

Bank Robber Strikes Two Tampa Banks In 2 Hours

After a hectic 90 minutes on August 1, Hillsborough County Sherriff's Office (HCSO) deputies were, at our press time, continuing their search for a man whom, they say, robbed the Regions Bank branch in North Tampa, and then traveled to Hyde Park to rob a Bank of America branch an hour and a half later.
