Location(s): Oakley's Grille

It’s been a great first year for Oakley’s Grille, located on Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd., between Dairy Queen and Supercuts, just a couple of miles south of the Pasco County line.

Owner Keith Oakley, his son Ryan and their outstanding team — which includes the awesome Chef Jayms & Oakley’s Grille newcomers Joe Coleman & Dakota Brooks — have made a name for themselves in the community with some of our area’s best burgers, fries, sandwiches, salads and more.

In fact, although the place was too new to register very high in our 2011 Reader Survey, I still voted Oakley’s the top Sandwich/Deli/Sub Shop in New Tampa & Wesley Chapel in my 2011 Try the new sweet potato fries with seasoning salt or cinnamon & brown sugar. Survey and I haven’t changed my mind, despite the presence of some new burger franchises either already open or opening in our area.

Today, Oakley’s still features the same comfortable, brightly-lit, family friendly atmosphere with outstanding service and where everything is still literally cooked to your order.

Since our last full-length feature on Oakley’s, the burger-and-sandwich shop has expanded its menu options, adding some tasty fajitas, blackened tilapia sandwiches and even crisp sweet potato fries, as well as offering specials every day of the week except Sunday.

For example, Monday is Ladies Day, where ladies receive %15 off their check; on Tuesday, you can get my favorite Black Angus cheeseburger and fries in New Tampa for just $5.99; on Wednesday, Oakley’s great new blackened tilapia sandwich and a fountain beverage cost just $6.99; on Thursday, get what I believe is the best real ribeye steak Philly cheesesteak in New Tampa (or the also-delicious chicken Philly) and fries for just $7.99; on Friday, Oakley’s features its delicious chicken or steak fajitas (served with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese and more), which are always just $9.99; and Saturday is Family Day,when families receive one free Kids Meal for each adult entrée purchased.

If nothing I’ve mentioned so far has you salivating, I don’t understand how that can be, but Oakley’s also has Cubans and other pressed sandwiches, assistant editor Matt Wiley’s highly recommended corned beef Rueben sandwiches, patty melt sandwiches, zesty Caesar, chef and Greek salads...and still more.
