New Tampa Teen Found Dead In University Area

Authorities have called off a search for a local teen after only 24 hours.

Unfortunately, it was because Noah Kushner, 16, the New Tampa teen who went missing on November 14, was found dead near the University of South Florida (USF) just one day later.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), Kushner was found between a basketball court and a vacant apartment at 4200 E. Fletcher Ave at 7 a.m. on November 15.

Kushner was last seen riding his blue Gary Fisher road bike on the 18000 block of Cozumel Dr.

There were no signs of trauma to the teen’s body and a cause of death is pending the completion of an autopsy by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner.

Kushner’s body was found just eight hours after a clerk at BP gas station at 2230 E. Fletcher Ave. found the body of Huayvez Gomez-Mejia, 25, of Tampa. Gomez-Mejia's cause of death looks to be suspicious, HCSO spokesperson Larry McKinnon said.

At this time, the HCSO have said they don't believe the two deaths are connected.
