Some people will do just about anything for an iPad 2. On January 13, a group of six burglars in a stolen Nissan Maxima went to the New Tampa Best Buy at 18071 Highwoods Preserve Pkwy. in The Walk at Highwoods Preserve plaza and took every iPad 2 in the store.

The oldest park in Tampa Palms is back open to the public, after detectives from the Tampa Police Department (TPD) closed off the park the evening of January 17, when the body of a man who apparently committed suicide was found in a car in the park’s parking lot.

Buckhorn was the featured speaker for New Tampa Rotary Club’s weekly Friday breakfast on Friday the 13th to talk about the future for not only New Tampa, but the entire Tampa Bay area. Speaking Of Jobs After some laughs about his taste in cars, Buckhorn spoke positively about Tampa’s future to the Rotary Club.

After months of uncertainty, concern and fear, residents of West Meadows and Richmond Place are resting a little easier, because for now, a proposed school will not be built on High-woods Preserve Pkwy. After more than four hours of listening to traffic experts, concerned parents, attorneys and home owners at their meeting on January 12, six of the seven Tampa City Council members (one was absent) agreed that a new charter school was not in New Tampa’s best interest.
