After being busted with a Dustbuster©, (one of seven handheld vacuum cleaners that he was allegedly trying to steal), a Wesley Chapel man managed to elude police until his getaway vehicle suffered a broken axle in Tampa Palms.
The incident began at around 10:30 a.m. on April 6, when George White, Jr., 39, of 1260 Nashville Dr. in Wesley Chapel, was stopped by store personnel at the Walmart Supercenter at 19910 Bruce B. Downs (BBD) Blvd. When asked about a receipt for the five vacuum cleaners he had in a shopping cart, White said that he hadn’t been given one. He returned into the store, supposedly to check with the cashier about getting a receipt, but instead, he went into a restroom and was subsequently spotted attempting to leave the store by another entrance, carrying two other vacuum cleaners.
